Happy Friday y'all!! I hope you guys are having a great start to your weekend! I have a busy weekend ahead of me cause we are apartment hunting. Fingers crossed we find something! Just hoping for enough space for all my crafting and sewing supplies LOL
Welcome to part 2 of the Sparkle Quilt! I'm really loving how this quilt looks and the process of putting it together. So in part 1 I showed you how I put the blocks together, now, follow along as I trim the blocks, sew on the sashing and put the first row together!
So I trimmed each edge up and let me tell you...doing that to 30 blocks is a job! It took me over a week to get them all trimmed. After trimming them they all ended up being roughly 13 1/2 inches which was nice since that meant I didn't have to trim them all down to size.
Next I layed them out to see if I liked the layout of them or if I should move some around to keep to much of the same color from being in the same area. I only ended up moving a few around. I have 6 across and 5 down. Look how bright this quilt will be!
Next I added on the 5×14 inch sashing strip to each block. I pressed the seam toward the strip then I trimmed them up. I only got 6 done so far but it was enough to put a row together.
Next I pinned them together in two's, making sure to line the seams up, and sewed them together. I pressed the seams all the same way then I sewed the pairs together.
I had to enlist some help in order to get a picture of this row sewn together because I have no space to lay something this long out and get a picture (any tips on making a apartment crafting friendly is always appreciated). It turned out so good! I am so proud of how this is coming together and I can't wait to do the rest. Come back in a few weeks and see what progress I will have made. I can't wait to show you!
Thanks for stopping by y'all. I hope everyone has a great weekend! Go and be creative friends!
