Calzone vs Stromboli #foodietuesday

Good morning y'all! I hope everyone is having a great week so far. Unfortunately sickness has attacked our house this past week and it doesn't seem to want to leave! Time to spray some lysol and grab some tea (because it's better than coffee when your sick) and let's take a look at this delicious calzone we made!

I have to admit I really didn't know the difference between a calzone and a stromboli. I've normally always ordered a stromboli and didn't think about it but now that me and pizza sauce don't get along I'm not a fan of them. So a calzone recipe popped up in pinterest and when I saw you didn't put sauce in it I had to try one! This was so good y'all! Plus so easy to make which is a win. All you need is:

  • Pizza dough (homemade or store bought)

  • Ricotta Cheese

  • Mozzarella Cheese

  • Parmesan Cheese

  • Pizza Sauce (for dipping)

  • Whatever toppings you want- I used pepperoni, onion, green pepper and jalapeno

  • Olive Oil

  • Italian Seasoning

I preheated the oven to 425. While the oven was warming up I sauteed the onions and green peppers. I used frozen for convenience cause being sick and chopping an onion probably wouldn't have been good 😂😭.

Next my helper (ladies get you man who will help you in the kitchen!) started working on the dough because I'm letting the professional pizza maker put these together lol.

Once we had the dough how we wanted we started to fill them. Now he added pizza sauce to his but I left it off mine. This was also my first time having ricotta cheese in one of these and I loved it.

Then we folded them over and cut slits in the top. We then brushed olive oil on them and added some italian seasoning. They looked and smelled so good at this point!

I put them in the oven for 15 minutes and let me tell you....the minute they came out I wanted to dig in! I didn't want to let them cool off!

Do these not look amazing! They tasted delicious...well what my taste buds allowed me to taste! I can't wait to make these again y'all and it will probably be very soon. Do you have a preference of a stromboli or a calzone? Or do you just love food and don't care either way? Let me know in the comments guys! Also if you have a recipe I should try you can leave a comment or send me a message. I can't wait to hear from y'all!

Go out and be creative friends and enjoy the rest of your week!

I love these! I've never had ricotta cheese in one and it's definitely my fav way to have them.

Those look amazing! I love both calzones and Stromboli. My bit disappointment around here is that restaurants think Stromboli is a sandwich and serve it on a bun. When I worked downtown Evansville, Angelo's across the street served both. I fell in love with their Stromboli. When I go to the grocery, I will buy stuff to make this!
