Faux Suede Leaf Earrings #craftywednesday

Good morning y'all!! I hope you guys are having a great week so far. I've been getting a lot done lately since I can't run to Michael's, Joanns or Hobby Lobby to start new projects all the time 😂 I've been making jewelry for a few years now but this is only my third time using my cricut to make some. So grab some coffee (skinny brew is my choice) and follow along as I make some earrings!

Now like I said I've been making jewelry for a few years now but I'm still very much a beginner and I'm hoping having a cricut will help make it a little easier on some things. Up until now it's mainly been beaded jewelry I've been making so it's nice working with different material. I made these with faux suede.

I found this template and tutorial on pinterest and it is free for personal use. The link will be at the bottom of this post. These faux suede leaf earrings were really simple and fun to make!

To make these earrings all you need is:

  • Faux Suede- I used the Cricut Faux Suede Rustic Sampler

  • A Cricut (any cutting machine should work)-I have the explore air 2

  • Standard Grip Cutting Mat- Tutorial used a strong grip but I've had no issue using the standard for faux suede

  • Weeding Tool & Small Spatula

  • Earring Findings

  • Template (link at bottom of post)

First you are going to want to download the template. Once that's done and you have loaded it into whatever program you use, you will see 4 sets of earrings pop up

I only made the top left one but I want to make the ones with the big leaves now too.

Now at this point you can resize them if you want to but they are already 2.25" inches. Next up hit the make it button! In Cricut Design Space they are automatically sorted by color into different mats.

I cut one 3x3 piece from each piece of faux suede I used.

You'll want to lay your material face down on the standard grip mat (or whichever you use) and you can mirror the images if you want to but it's not necessary.

Once the first color is done unload the mat and do the next one. Once you have them cut and off the mat it's time to put them together!

First you are going to want to twist the bottom loop on the ear wires so they hang correctly.

Next you will want to open the jump rings and start assembling the earrings. First slide the faux suede shapes onto the jump rings. Then put the ear wire on. Make sure your paying attention to which is the front while doing this. Then to finish pull the jump ring closed making sure the ends meet up perfectly. Check out the photos below 👇

Voila! They are done and super cute! I love how quick these were to make too. Start to finish (once the design was uploaded) it probably took 20-30 minutes to get them done.

Are these not the cutest and they are the perfect size! I'm hoping to design my own one day but it's definitely harder than it looks. Have y'all made any jewelry on a cutting machine? If so, what? Please share in the comments what you've made or planning to make!

I hope y'all enjoyed this #craftywednesday! Now go out and be creative friends and enjoy the rest of your week!
