Learning to Loom Knit #craftywednesday

Good Afternoon y'all!! It is so hard to believe we are about to get hit with a winter storm because it is supposed to be almost 70 today! Then turn around and be in the 30's with snow tomorrow...ugh. Either way I'm still sipping on my skinny coffee and getting through my day!

So I decided to try my hand at loom knitting and I'll be honest...I loved it! I had tried knitting the regular way and I just couldn't do it. My brain would just get confused LOL. The purchase of the loom kit was actually an impulse buy because I was already at Michael's and I had a 50% coupon and I wanted something new. So I got the kit and did nothing with it for over a month.

I wasn't sure how to even start loom knitting. The instructions that come with the kit were made for someone who already knows how to knit so that put me off a little which is probably why I waited to do anything with it. I eventually decided to watch some youtube videos and at the suggestion of someone on my instagram page I watched one by Loom A Hat and her instructions were so easy to understand and follow! Now because I was just practicing I used some yarn I already had.

I have a lot of these because I tried finger knitting a blanket and it was a disaster 🤷‍♀️ This is super chunky(6) so I didn't have to double up the yarn while making it. I also used a 36 peg loom.

She does give a generalized idea of how many inches a adult hat should be but really you just have to make one and go from there. I've made 2 so far and of course my first one wasn't as long as it should be but it was all a learning experience.

First one definitely didn't turn out bad! Just a little short. In the video I followed she gives guidelines for how long to make it and for a adult hat it was 2 inches for the brim and 6 inches for the body, so 8 inches total. My first one was about an inch shorter than that and it didn't cover my ears like a wanted so I made another one. Check out the second one below 👇

Love how the second one turned out! This one was a little longer than 8 inches and it fit me perfectly. Y'all I can't wait to make other styles and even start making scarves and blankets! I definitely have a new addiction 😂 Y'all share your knitting projects in the comments! I would love to see what everyone has made!

Like always y'all, if you have a craft idea for me leave a comment or send me a message! Now go out and be creative friends and enjoy the rest of your week!
