I have a confession...I am not a football fan. I said it...I like the food, the tailgating, hanging out with friends but the actual game I never really understood. For those that don't know, the Kansas City Chiefs are headed to the Superbowl and while I am just a fan of the food my other half is a fan of the game. He played football in high school and he is a Chiefs fan so our household will be celebrating the fact that after 50 years the Chiefs have another chance! So I've decided to make a no sew table runner made like a football field.
Now I have to tell you I went shopping a few days ago to get what I needed to complete this craft and of course I always end up buying more stuff than I had planned on. Still a lot less than what I normally come out with.
Only a few things in this picture were meant for this craft. Can you guess what's not a part of it?
If you guessed everything but the felt, ribbon and glue you would be correct, lol. All you need for this no sew football field table runner is:
Green Felt- Enough to make it big enough for your table (mine ended up being 15x36 so it's the perfect size for a coffee table)
Brown Felt for the football
Felt in team colors (optional)
Football and Team initial templates- I found mine on google
Glue- I used tacky glue cause that's what I had on hand but any craft/fabric glue would work
5/8 White Ribbon
Scissors
Tape measure
First I started by measuring and cutting my felt to the size I needed it to be. Now I used my cutting mat and rotary cutter but that's because I like things to be straight but by all means you can free hand it and just use scissors.
Next I laid out the piece of felt and I measured about every 3 and a half inches to mark the lines but if you make this bigger just measure further between lines. You may want to run a lighter along the ends of the ribbon to keep it from fraying.
Next I cut the football template in the brown felt twice and I cut the K out of red felt and the C out of a gold/yellowish felt. On the footballs I added 2 strips of the white ribbon to make it look more like a football. I wish I would've snapped a pic of me gluing the wrong size strips onto the footballs (it didn't really look like a football lol) but I forgot to take one but all I did was just turn them over and use the other side.
Once the footballs and the letters were ready I just glued them on wherever they looked good.
And it's done! Super simple and took me less than an hour to make. I love crafts that are super easy and fun to make and this definitely hit the mark. I can't wait to put this out with all of our food we will be having. We're talking about having wings, pizza, a veggie and fruit tray and probably something sweet.
